Common Myna

Description

A pest and invasive in Australia the Myna is native to Asia and is also called the Indian Myna. It was introduced here in the 1880s and is reputed to be aggressive towards local native species. It is claimed that they are one of the most invasive animal species in the world.

They take over nesting hollows, evicting birds and small mammals, and prey on nestlings. They also pose some small human health risk and

the nesting material they bring into roof cavities and other spaces in buildings can be a fire hazard.
